I read the NIV. How should this impact me? Help me out here.
I would say that if you are using the old NIV and you don’t want to change to another translation, go ahead and keep using it. But, I wouldn’t encourage getting this new NIV that will be coming out next year. There are too many changes in it that really impact the meaning of the text. They seem to have gone from translating the text to interpreting the text as they translate it, and interpreting in ways that specifically remove meaning in relation to manhood – gender neutral and politically correct.
If you are looking for a new translation, the ESV reads well and is translated well. That’s my preference.
