Advent is the time of waiting or preparation as we approach the celebration of Christ’s birth. These Advent Devotionals are written as an appetizer to stimulate your heart, or as kindling for starting a fire in your heart to worship and adore Jesus at Christmas, rather than being caught up in all the trappings and activities and materialism of this season. You can use them as a supplement for your personal devotions, or as a conversation starter at mealtime, so that your focus can be more fully on celebrating the newborn King.
This year’s Advent Devotionals will be focused around the “ABC’s of Advent.” Each day leading up to Christmas will highlight a word beginning with each successive letter of the alphabet, emphasizing various truths related to Christmas. If you are using this in your family, and you have younger kids, you can use this in many different ways to make your children’s preparation:
- Make an advent chain, one link for each letter, and add a final one with “A to Z” on it. Take one off each day as you prepare for Christmas.
- Make your own calendar with a letter on it for each day, beginning with Nov. 29.
- Come up with your own words that relate to Christmas that begin with the letter for the day.
- Post your own letters on Facebook.
- Be creative!
I pray that God would use these devotionals as an aid to adore the newborn King even more fully this year.
Because of Him,
